On Saturday 3/1, our very own Jeff Kass helped plan and coordinate this year’s Louder Than a Bomb-Youth Poetry Slam. This all day event is the Ann Arbor version of an annual youth poetry slam that originated in Chicago. The goal of the slam is to get diverse youth from all around Southeast Michigan to not only share their stories, but listen to the voices of those from other parts of the area they would otherwise never hear. Most participants are in high school, with some in middle school or college. The name of the slam comes from the Public Enemy song of the same name.
