Dr. Michael W. Smith
Join award-winning author and researcher Michael Smith as he discusses what motivates adolescents, particularly boys, to read both in and out of school. Hear practical advice about how to turn even resistant and struggling students into eager readers and writers.
Michael W. Smith is a professor in Temple University's College of Education. He has been Chair of the Literature Special Interest Group of the American Educational Research Association, co-Chair of the NCTE Assembly for Research, and co-editor of Research in the Teaching of English. He was recently elected a Fellow of the National Conference on Research in Language and Literacy. His most recent book (with Jeffrey Wilhelm) is Getting It Right: Fresh Approaches to Teaching Grammar, Usage, and Correctness (2007).
